Heather Miller Lardin

Double bassist and violist da gamba Heather Miller Lardin appears frequently with period instrument ensembles throughout the Northeast, including the Handel & Haydn Society, Tempesta di Mare, and Brandywine Baroque, and has appeared with ARTEK, New York City Opera, and the New York Collegium. As a modern double bassist, she has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and was a member of the Virginia Symphony from 1996 to 2002.

Ms. Lardin has served on the double bass faculty of the Strings International Music Festival and Temple University (Music Preparatory Division), the viol faculty of the Amherst Early Music Festival, and has taught music history at Cornell University and the Eastman School of Music. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Performance Practice from Cornell and is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. In June, 2009 she co-chaired the Conference on Historically-informed Double Bass at the International Society of Bassists Convention at State College, PA.
